Folket Bortafor Nordavinden - Sagnamadr (2018)
Album page Viking markets are a popular and entertaining form of historical reenactment to be found mostly in Scandinavia. It is the perfect place to meet history enthusiasts and talented craftsmen in a rural and festive setting. There, reenactors wearing period costumes can be seen showcasing their art, taking part in battles and playing songs. The latter is what Benny Braaten, founding member of Folket Bortafor Nordavinden, and his troupe have been doing since the late nineties. They are also providing the background music for the videos of the Swedish company Grimfrost, which specializes in recreating various products inspired by the Viking era. They have recently published Sagnamadr, the debut effort by the Norwegian trio. The title refers to the Old Norse sagnamaðr, which literally translates to "sagas-man", as in the author of sagas.
